Implementing ERP on the Salesforce platform is a leap forward for any organization, that is one of the reasons why some of our customers choose to do ERP first and Finance later. For these customers we build integrations.
A look behind the scenes;
Run the numbers
Balanced Force developed financial integrations between Rootstock ERP and off-platform financial solutions, ranging from a simple exports of accounts payable and accounts receivable to more complex bi-directional integrations. When developing these solutions we first create a visual overview of the integration, this is the easy part. Then we build the integration in a test environment and then we face the 3 challenges of integrations; master data, data formats and testing.
A solid integration requires alignment of master data between systems, customer and vendor numbers, General Ledger Accounts, VAT codes they must all match. What date is 1/4/2021? Is it April first or the fourth of January. And the decimal sign, is it a dot or a comma. And last but not least testing, it great when the happy flow works, but some times we have to create a credit note, does that work too? That is why we emphasize development of test scenarios to make sure we cover all exceptions.
Peer review, Cutover and Go-live
So now we have developed a new integration, how do we go live? First we do a final peer review within our team of highly experienced consultants then we develop a cutover plan, the timing is often crucial. And then, sometimes in the middle of the night on a weekend day we flip the switch and we are live. And of course we are available for support after go-live.
